PROGRAM NOTES
The Wings That Bear the Night Away is based on an imaginary mythology derived from the story of Daedalus and Icarus, but in this retelling, Icarus flies out of time, reaching toward the sun and coaxing the earth’s orbit to continually bring light to the world. The electronic part granulates the string quartet stems from my song, Ghosts of Our Former Selves, refracting them - stretching and transposing the samples to remix my record into an entirely new piece for live performance.
